Dr. Tonya Steed, Au.D., is a licensed audiologist with over 25 years of experience diagnosing and treating hearing loss in the Sarasota area. At Physicians Hearing Clinic, she specializes in fitting personalized, prescription-based hearing aids and improving her patients' quality of life through better communication with friends and family. Patients can expect the highest level of hearing care from Dr. Steed, who is known for her empathetic approach and dedication to going the extra mile.

A Sarasota native, Dr. Steed completed her Doctorate in Audiology from A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Health Sciences. Her patients benefit from 25+ years of professional collaboration with the surrounding Sarasota medical community — including a long-standing relationship with Shea ENT Clinic next door, one of Sarasota's longest-standing ENT practices.

Dr. Steed is passionate about helping others beyond her practice. She serves as Director for Special Olympics Healthy Hearing and partners with Sounding Joy to provide hearing aids to children whose families can't otherwise afford them.

Dr. Duoné Swart was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. She obtained her bachelor's degree in Speech Therapy and Audiology in 2014 and her Master's degree in Audiology in 2018, both from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Dr. Swart completed her Doctor of Audiology degree at A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Health Sciences in 2023, graduating at the top of her class and receiving the Professional Leadership Award for outstanding contributions to the audiology community. She is a board licensed audiologist in Florida and North Dakota.

She has a passion for helping others. Before receiving her Audiology license to practice in the United States, she worked at the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital. Dr. Swart completed her audiology internship with Physicians Hearing Clinic in 2024, under the direction of Dr. Pat McCarthy, gaining expertise in providing comprehensive hearing assessments and treatment plans for adults.

Dr. Swart's naturally gentle demeanor immediately puts her patients at ease. She continues to pursue a specialized interest in tinnitus treatment while providing personalized options for every patient wanting to improve their communication abilities with loved ones.

Delighted to call Sarasota her new home, Dr. Swart loves relaxing outdoors and being a mom to her beautiful daughter.

Jordan Best is a dedicated Audiology Assistant known for her genuine care of senior citizens and her attention to detail. She began her career in healthcare at the front desk, where she developed a strong foundation in patient communication and care coordination. Driven by a desire to make a more direct impact, she completed hands-on training under the supervision of a Doctor of Audiology and is now highly skilled in diagnostic hearing testing, hearing aid repairs and maintenance, and comprehensive patient education.

In 2023, Jordan earned her Certificate Program for Otolaryngology Personnel (CPOP) certification from the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS). In 2026, she received her Florida Board certification as an Audiology Assistant. She remains committed to continuing her professional development in hearing healthcare.

Today, Jordan excels at performing accurate hearing evaluations, troubleshooting and maintaining hearing devices, and empowering patients with the knowledge and confidence they need to get the most out of their hearing aids. She creates a comfortable environment where patients feel at ease during testing, and patients often comment on her patience.

A Sarasota native, Jordan is proud to serve her local community at Physicians Hearing Clinic. When she's not at work, you'll find her reading a book, attending a music festival, or cheering on her family's auto racing team.

Audrey serves as the practice's Patient Care Coordinator, where she ensures each patient feels supported, informed, and cared for every step of the way. You may see her at the front desk greeting patients and families, in the back repairing hearing aids, or on the phone helping patients with their hearing aids and connectivity apps.

Her foundation in engineering, her background in the medical field, and a decade of experience as a special education educator uniquely equip her to approach hearing care with both compassion and attention to detail. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business and a Master's degree in Education.

Audrey is also a hearing aid wearer herself — she has lived with hearing loss since her 20s and has worn hearing aids for the last three years, giving her firsthand insight into what patients experience day to day. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time in the sunshine, reading, and being with her two children.
